Innovate & Educate: A Student Research Competition

The Innovate & Educate Student Research Competition serves as one of the the main IHL programs that promotes research and scientific collaboration within the conference.
Once students apply to the IHLP, admitted students will have the opportunity to create and submit a research project related to any topic related to science, public health, and medicine.
All students will submit 3 key components for their project: an abstract, a research poster, and a virtual recorded presentation
All submitted projects will be evaluated and featured on the IHL Innovate & Educate Platform!
A select number of projects will be chosen for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards with monetary prizes for each respective place.

Only students admitted to the IHLP will be eligible to take part in Innovate & Educate.
General Timeline:
Program applications open October 1st, 2024
Program applications close November 1st, 2024 @ 11:59 PM
Application decisions will be released via email around mid December 2024
IHL Innovate & Educate project guidelines and deadlines will be released by the end of December 2024 for admitted students
Program begins January 2025
Abstracts will be due at the beginning of March of 2025
Research Posters will be due at the end of April of 2025
Project presentations will be due mid May of 2025
IHL Innovate & Educate final projects will be evaluated by the end of May 2025, results and awards will be sent out at that time
It is important to note that all components of the research project will be submitted virtually according to the guidelines set by IHLP. There is NO virtual event/conference for project presentations, everything will be submitted individually and later featured via the IHL Innovate & Educate platform.
Specific dates/deadlines will be released to admitted students in December of 2024!

Students are encouraged to submit a project individually. However, if you are interested in working with another student accepted into IHLP you may do so.
*NOTE* If you choose to work with other students, they MUST have been accepted into the program. Students not admitted to the program may not take part in this competition.
General Requirements:
Project topics must be related to science, public health, or medicine
If chosen, projects will be judged and 3 winners will be chosen
Students may choose to submit either:
An experimental research project proposal (i.e. utilized scientific method, collected data, completed analysis, and drew conclusions)
An observational, informative, or literature review based project proposal (i.e. focused on educating individuals about a specific public health or medicine related topic/ issue)
All selected participants must be able to submit all 3 components required by IHLP for their research project
Specific submission requirements (i.e. abstract formatting, poster requirements, etc.) will be sent out once the program begins
1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners will be determined; each winner will receive a monetary award
As part of the program, resources regarding abstract development, creating a research poster, and presenting a research project will be provided as the program progresses. Specific workshops and informational sessions will also be available to admitted students!
